I am currently renting a house from a person who has two houses on his property. Both of us play StarCraft, and we like to play together. We're using the same router, and the upload / download speed is more than high enough for two people to be playing StarCraft. When we play separate games of StarCraft, it works.However, when we attempt to play 2vs2 or UMS, the game lags a lot and sometimes people will drop.
We have edited our registries so that our StarCraft clients use different ports, and opened those ports for the correct computer. This hasn't fixed the problem.
I've searched for answers for a long time, and although I remember fixing this problem while visiting this guy in the past, I haven't found or discovered a solution. I don't know anything about networking; I have a book on SDL_Net that I plan to read at some point and that's about it.
Does any one knowledgeable have any ideas?
That's right. Blizzard has announced free downloads of one of the most popular PC games to ever come out – StarCraft! Now known as StarCraft Re-mastered, the original StarCraft and StarCraft Brood War games can be played on PC and Mac. What's even better – the original Battle.net multiplayer service included! - Head to Blizzards page here. Download the PC or Mac versions.
- Launch the StarCraftInstaller. StarCraft will be downloaded and installed from Blizzards servers.
Note: We couldn't find official system requirements documentation from Blizzard's website for StarCraft & StarCraft Brood War, but the game appears to install and play well on the latest Windows and Mac OS 10.12 Operating Systems.
- On Mac, StarCraft installs in your Applications folder by default. Launch the Starcraft.app to begin playing. If you ever played the game before, get ready to be taken back! Look and feel are exactly the same!
- You can create a free Battle.net multiplayer gaming account in StarCraft.
- The look and feel of Battle.net has improved since StarCraft's interpretation. You still keep an account record of wins, losses, and ties!
